Jose Mourinho has confirmed Ashley Young is staying at Manchester United and will feature in Wednesday evening’s Premier League match against Hull City at Old Trafford. While he has always wanted Young to stay, Mourinho admitted on Sunday night that the versatile and experienced Red was the only player who could leave the club before the end of the January transfer window, due to his lack of first-team opportunities this season. During a press conference at the Aon Training Complex on Tuesday, the boss was happy to inform reporters that Young will continue to provide an invaluable option in the squad. “Young is definitely staying,” Jose said. “He is selected for tomorrow. He stays with me until the end of the season.” Mourinho then admitted United would not be active during the remainder of deadline day with the January window set to close at 23:00 GMT, having already sold two players this month. “We don’t have players coming in or going out,” the boss confirmed. “We lost two players from the squad. You can say Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin didn’t play a lot but the reality is they played some matches. When they played, other people didn’t and rested.
